| I was very sad to hear of the death of Maya Angelou today. I grew up reading her books; I think she provided me with my first glimpse of
African/American life. I loved her autobiographies but of course she was also a poet, novelist, activist (worked with both Martin Luther King and Malcolm X).
She was of course quite old but certainly lived a remarkable life. Sad to say that none of my (younger) colleagues have ever heard of her ...
